Introduction

In high school, I was constantly thinking about my future. Where would I go to college? What do I want to pursue a degree in? I finally focused in on the medical field, and dove into the technical school my high school offered, enrolling in the health occupations class. Once completing the course, I left with my C.N.A and began searching for something I thought I could do for the rest of my life, and landed a job in a nursing home. After working for about a year through my senior year of high school, I quickly decided being a C.N.A wasn’t something I wanted to do forever. I wanted to better myself so I know more schooling would be in order.

I was 19 when I enrolled in the liberal arts program at Eastern Maine Community College. I am now in my last year of completing that degree and already am planning on returning immediately after graduating to earn my degree in another program, something more focused in the medical field, nursing where I can become an Registered Nurse. Something I’ve had my eyes on for awhile.

I got married quickly out of high school, bought a house with my husband and have been working part time and going to school. Although its taken me almost four years to obtain my associates degree in liberal arts, I can at least say I’ve never given up. I may have taken the scenic route, but I’ve almost made it. When I graduate from Nursing in the spring of 2014, I’ll be more concentrated on starting a family with my husband.
